Life is more fun blonde right? I've had a long journey with my hair and I 'm finally very happy with what my hair looks like now and I want to share my hair story with you guys because this has been highly requested. So If you're interested on how I got my hair color, style and maintenance; keep on reading! But before we start, I just want to say, this is my first time going to an actual salon for anything. Growing up, my mom was a hair stylist so she has experimented and have done pretty much everything to my hair. Also, I am not an expert or anything but everything I'm going to share is what I have learned through others and in beauty school. (Yes, I have a cosmetology license, but I don't practice it, I got it for fun)
Color
I went to the Ulta salon in Rosenberg, TX and my stylist is Genaro (he also goes by "G"). I showed him pictures of how I wanted by hair to be and we discussed everything before we got started. Before coming in, I was actually very nervous because It was going to be my first time going to a salon to get my hair done and my hair was pretty dark. But G made me feel very comfortable by explaining everything to me and answered all my questions. (and If you know me, I ask..A LOT)
So I asked for a balayage with a platinum blonde. The entire thing took 6 hours and yes, It was only done in one session. BUT, he gave me a keratin treatment when he finished so my hair did not feel dead. After he also recommended shampoos to use to maintain the blonde and make it even more brassier.
Maintenance
Purple Shampoo works wonders! I use purple shampoo once a week, and it really does make a difference. It takes away the brassiness in my hair and make it more of a platnium blonde The purple shampoo/ conditioner I use is Redken Color Extend Blondage, Its a little pricey but I promise you, you will see a big difference and fall in love with the results. If you get this during the Ulta Jumbo sale, It was be 50% off! So stock up during this time if you want to go blonde!
During the week I try to switch up my shampoos/conditioners so my hair doesn't get tired of the same one. These are the two brands I use:
Also once a week, I use this deep conditioning mask and It makes my hair feel so soft!
After I wash my hair, I use Paul Mitchell Smoothing Super Skinny Serum every night while my hair is still damped. It smells amazing and It makes my hair super soft! I've been using this product since middle school and I still love it.
Stylin'
Usually when I have blonde or highlighted hair, I love to curl it because it makes the colors pop and your hair looks 10X's better than just straight hair.
I use a 1 1/4" wand to curl my hair because the curls look more natural. I usually go for the wavy look. The bigger the wand, the better. I curl away from my face and when I'm done, I finish off my spraying Eufora Full Effect spray to get that voluminous look. You can pick yours up at Fringe Salon and Color Bar in Houston!
